Living The Headline: Being Good News People
Living the Headline: Being Good News People
Everywhere we turn, there’s breaking news, endless updates, and a constant flood of negativity. But what if we flipped the script? What if instead of just consuming the news, we became the good news that our world so desperately needs?
What’s the headline of your life? If your story made the front page, would it be good news or just more noise? Jesus didn’t just bring good news—He was the good news. And He left it in our hands to carry forward.
Are We Making an Impact?
If Vivid City disappeared tomorrow, would our city even notice? Would our neighbors, coworkers, and families feel the loss? These aren’t just theoretical questions—they challenge us to reflect on how we’re living out the gospel every day. We don’t just receive good news; we represent it.
Jesus made it clear in Matthew 5:14-16:
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden... let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
The way we live preaches a message. What is your life saying about Jesus?
How Do We Live as Good News People?
✅ Be Present – Jesus didn’t love from a distance. He stepped into the mess and met people where they were. We can’t be good news if we’re too distracted or too busy to notice people. Put down the phone. Look people in the eyes. Engage.
✅ Be Different – If following Jesus doesn’t change the way we live, what are we doing? The world is full of fear, division, and selfishness. We stand out when we live with love, peace, and grace.
✅ Be Available – Good news isn’t just for Sundays. It means making room for God’s interruptions, being open to serving others, and intentionally looking for ways to bring life to every situation.
Jesus compared us to salt—but what good is salt if it loses its flavor? What good is faith if it doesn’t change the world around us?
Are We Sharing the Bread of Life?
Think of two bakers. One discovers an amazing bread recipe and shares it with his community—his bakery becomes the heart of the town. Another finds the same recipe but keeps it to himself. His town is left with stale, lifeless bread. Which baker are we?
Jesus said, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry.” (John 6:35) People are searching, craving something real. Our lives should make them hungry for Jesus.
The Challenge: Live the Good News
If we’re truly Good News People, our actions should prove it. Our love, our service, our generosity—they should make people stop and take notice.
This week, let’s commit to:
✅ Being present with the people around us.
✅ Standing out by living differently.
✅ Saying yes to God’s opportunities.
Because when we do, the gospel won’t just be words—it’ll be something people experience through us. And that’s the kind of headline worth making.
